BISMARCK — The North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality will host a public webinar at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, to provide residents with information about a new rule about lead and copper in drinking water and its impact on communities across the state.
According to a news release, the new rule aims to protect public health by reducing exposure to lead and copper in drinking water. During the webinar, an environmental scientist for the state will discuss the objectives of the rule, the risks associated with lead, the requirements for identifying and replacing lead and copper service lines, and how North Dakota is working to ensure safer drinking water for all residents.
The webinar will include a Q&A session along with information about how to identify the materials used in water service lines, how to determine if "unknown" materials are present on the private end of the service line, and where to find additional resources about the impacts of the new rule.
Instructions for joining the webinar will be provided at www.deq.nd.gov/MF/DWP/LCRR, and a recording will be available on the website after the event.
