Time out: A.C. Slater is in Western New York.
Former “Saved By the Bell” star Mario Lopez revealed on social media that he’s filming a new movie in Buffalo. The actor and “Access Hollywood” host shared a short video of himself bundled up in a winter coat, complaining about the cold weather.
“Buffalo is no joke, it’s like 29-30 degrees,” Lopez said.
According to WGRZ, Lopez was filming outside the St. Andrew Country Day School in the Town of Tonawanda. The building was decorated for Christmas, suggesting it will be a holiday film.
Lopez said “Bills Mafia” was going to help with crowd shots for the scene, which is on his second day of filming. The Buffalo News reports Lopez is expected to be in the area for 3 weeks working on the project.
Additional details have not been disclosed, but Lopez’s recent credits include the Lifetime Christmas movies “Steppin’ Into the Holiday” and “Feliz NaviDAD,” plus the Great American Family TV film “Once Upon a Christmas Wish.” In other words, you can probably expect to see the Buffalo project on television later this year.
Lopez, 51, first rose to fame as Slater on “Saved By the Bell,” a TV show about a group of California high school students that included Zack Morris (Mark-Paul Gosselaar), Jessie Spano (Elizabeth Berkley), Screech (Dustin Diamond), Lisa Turtle (Lark Voorhies) and Kelly Kapowski (Tiffani-Amber Thiessen). Lopez reprised his role as the popular jock on “Saved By the Bell: The College Years” and a 2020 sequel series.
Lopez’s credits include more than 100 movies and TV shows, such as “Dancing with the Stars,” “Pacific Blue,” “Nip/Tuck,” “The Bold and the Beautiful,” “A Recipe for Seduction” and “Holiday in Handcuffs.” He’s also hosted “The X Factor,” “America’s Best Dance Crew” and entertainment news shows like “Extra” and “Access Hollywood.”
