Get ready to make a difference! The National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) is gearing up for its annual food drive, scheduled for Saturday, May 11. Since its inception in 1993, NALC’s food drive has played a crucial role in assisting families grappling with food insecurity by providing essential support to the LaGrange Interfaith Food Closet.

In Troup County, the food insecurity rate was 12.8% in 2023, affecting 8,900 residents, spanning across generations from children to seniors. LaGrange Interfaith Food Closet has been helping local residents since 1983.

Residents can seamlessly participate by placing non-perishable food items beside their mailboxes on Saturday, May 11. As letter carriers traverse their postal routes, they’ll scoop up these donations, channeling them toward the LaGrange Interfaith Food Closet.

This initiative couldn’t come at a more critical time. With food banks and pantries still reeling from the winter crunch and the impending summer break sidelining school meal programs, community support is indispensable.
